Ellie Martin- Musical Director

Ellie is a London-born conductor, professional soprano and choral animateur. She studied Vocal Performance at Trinity College of Music, graduating in 2010 with First Class Honours. For several years, Ellie was the Vocal Coordinator for Bird College Music Service in the London Borough of Bexley, a role in which she was committed to promoting engagement with music across all ages and abilities. She directed choirs from age four to adult, and conducted a massed choir of over 700 in London’s Royal Festival Hall on several occasions.

In 2016, Ellie moved from London to Nottingham to undertake a master’s degree in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, in which she gained a Distinction. Since living in Nottingham, Ellie held conductor posts for several choirs for East Midlands arts organisation, Music for Everyone, and worked as a singing teacher and workshop leader for Nottingham City Music Hub. Ellie was also Assistant Director of Music at Nottingham Cathedral for several years, and later took on the role of Head of Singing at Repton School.

Following this, Ellie embarked on a career change, but still holds her much-loved position of Musical Director for Mansfield Choral Society, and 2017 conducted a performance of Haydn’s The Creation at Southwell Minster, with both Mansfield Choral Society and Bingham and District Choral Society, and the Lincolnshire Chamber Orchestra.

Ellie is also a professional soprano and member of London-based chamber choir, Blossom Street, with whom she has featured on several critically-acclaimed CDs as both a choir member and soloist.

During the first lockdown of the pandemic, Ellie wrote a rather silly song called Corona Loner which, to her delight, brought quite a few smiles. Give it a listen here.

Ellie was delighted to become Musical Director for Radcliffe Ladies Choir in September 2020, and she is very much looking forward to in-person rehearsals with the lovely ladies of the choir.

Judy Holborow - Accompanist

Judy Holborow is a retired teacher. She is a very talented musician and the Radcliffe Ladies Choir were delighted when she became their permanent accompanist in May 2008. Don’t be fooled by her shy and retiring approach to receiving applause - as she's the glue who holds the whole choir together. Judy’s carpe diem approach to life resonates across all that we do.
